Zimbabwe Cricket denies sacking Ntini as bowling coach

Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has brushed aside speculations that former South Africa fast bowler Makhaya Ntini has been fired as the national cricket team's bowling coach. There have been rumors that Ntini contract as Zimbabwe's bowling coach is unlikely to be renewed when it expires in January next year, and that he might be released from t he duty even before that date. The development comes after series of complaints from several players about Ntini's approach.

Warner's success mantra against Indian spinners

Despite Australia's continuous batting failure in the ongoing five-match ODI series against India, opener David Warner on Saturday brushed aside speculations that the tourists are finding it difficult to read the Virat Kohli-led side's spinners. A clinical spell from Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah early on, and crippling strikes from Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal afterwards, ended the visiting side's hopes of levelling the series as India proved their dominance once again with a 50-run win over Australia in Kolkata to go 2-0 up.

India A hockey teams leave for Australian League

The India 'A' Men and Women Hockey teams on Saturday left for the Australian Hockey League, beginning September 28 in Perth, Australia. Ahead of the prestigious League that will see a total of 10 teams including defending champions Victoria fight for top honours, the men's team was based at Sports Authority of India, Bengaluru while the India 'A' team for women trained at the SAI Centre in Bhopal as part of their preparations for the Australian challenge.

Pranaav Chopra-Sikki Reddy bow out in semis

India's campaign in the ongoing Japan Open Super Series came to an end with Pranaav Jerry Chopra and N Sikki Reddy crashing out of the mixed doubles event in Tokyo on Saturday. The Indian pair, who had won the Syed Modi International Badminton Championships at the beginning of the year, made a good start to their semi-final clash by winning the first game. However, they failed to capitalise on the same and went down against Japanese duo of Takuro Hoki and Sayaka Hirota in the last two games of a thrilling clash that lasted exactly an hour. The final score read 21-14, 15-21, 19-21, in favour of Hoki and Hirota.

FIFA punishes Iran's Taremi, Persepolis club

Mehdi Taremi, the striker of Iran's Persepolis club and Iran's national football team, will stay out of action for four months after FIFA found him guilty of breaching his contract, local media reported on Saturday. Taremi had been locked in a contract dispute with Turkish club Caykur Rizespor dating back to June 2016, when the player reached an agreement to join the club and later returned to Persepolis.

Bengal Warriors edge out Bengaluru Bulls in PKL

Bengal Warriors survived a second half scare as they beat Bengaluru Bulls 33-29 in the fifth Pro Kabaddi Season here on Saturday. Maninder Singh made a crucial super raid in the dying minutes of the match as the Warriors held on to a narrow win. Their defenders Ravinder Pahal and and Mahender Singh scored five points each but were let down by raiders Rohit and Ajay Kumar. Harish Naik scored 11 raid points for the Bulls. Surjeet Singh scored six points whereas Maninder ended with nine points for Warriors.
