The highly anticipated Sunday wedding of Indian women's team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana with filmmaker and music composer Palash Muchhal has been indefinitely postponed.

According to the star batter's manager, Tuhin Mishra, her father, Shrinivas Mandhana, had suddenly become unwell on Sunday morning, due to which he was rushed to hospital and the ceremony was put on hold.

"During breakfast, Smriti's father, Shrinivas Mandhana, had suddenly become unwell. We waited for a while but soon called an ambulance, after which he was rushed to the hospital, where he is currently under observation," Mishra said.

"As you know, Smriti is very close to her father. So, Smriti Mandhana has decided that until he gets well, the marriage will be indefinitely postponed," he added, urging people to respect the family's privacy.

According to the family doctor, Dr Naman Shah, Shrinivas Mandhana's chest pain on the left side was called an 'angina' in medical terms.

"We found out in ECG, other reports, that cardiac enzymes are elevated, hence we need to keep him in observation. BP is also elevated. The whole team is monitoring. If situation exacerbates, we will have to do angiography ... Smriti is in contact with us, hopefully he will be stable by tomorrow," Dr Shah said.

This follows Smriti's star-studded sangeet ceremony on Friday, that also saw many of her cricket team members attend.

Over the past few months, the pair have often grabbed headlines, with Muchhal's proposal video at the D.Y. Patil Stadium on Friday winning hearts in India and abroad.

The iconic D.Y. Patil Stadium in Mumbai was where the Indian women's team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, won the 2025 ICC World Cup on November 2, defeating a formidable South African side by 52 runs.

The Indian women's team has next been scheduled to play against the Australians, but only in February 2026.
