Real Madrid is enduring a bizarre season under new manager Xabi Alonso. After 12 games, they are at the top of the La Liga table with 31 points, three clear of arch-rivals Barcelona with an El Clasico win included. Only once has Alonso's side tasted defeat in the league, although that was an embarrassing loss to city rivals Atletico Madrid.
In the Champions League, meanwhile, the Los Blancos have just tasted a 0-1 defeat against Liverpool in Anfield and the jury is divided over Alonso's future despite a fairly strong start to the season. One key topic of discussion is his rapport with players and while Vinicius Junior has openly expressed his displeasure, there are now reports of another prominent Real Madrid player who is set to exit.
According to the BBC, teenage prodigy Endrick is on track for a loan move to Lyon in the January transfer window. The exact terms and conditions of the deal are still being worked out but the Brazilian's move seems to be virtually done. Speculations are that the loan amount is close to €800,000 with a penalty condition which hints at Endrick playing a minimum of 25 matches in the season.
In the ongoing 2025-26 season, the 19-year-old has only taken the field for 14 minutes across all competitions. Negligible game time is understandably the major reason behind Endrick's decision to leave, even as he aims for a return to Brazil's national squad with the World Cup scheduled next year.
Real Madrid and Lyon are currently working out the finer aspects of the deal. A significant update on Endrick's future should be out in the upcoming weeks. There has also been a plethora of other clubs who have shown their interest in the teenager but for now, Lyon is reportedly his next destination.
