The highly anticipated first glimpse of "Mahakali" was released on Monday, August 24, 2026, introducing audiences to a vast and dark mythological world. The female-led superhero film is the latest major project in the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU), which began with the hit "HanuMan".

Titled “Shukracharya’s War Cry,” the promo reveals the central conflict of the story. Akshaye Khanna makes a striking appearance as Shukracharya, the powerful Asuraguru, or teacher of the Asuras. His intense performance and commanding screen presence have quickly become one of the biggest talking points of the promo.

The story looks at ancient mythology from the perspective of the Asuras. Shukracharya questions why the Devas received all the Amrit, the elixir of immortality, during the Samudra Manthan, while the Asuras were pushed into the underworld. Driven by this sense of injustice, he declares war on both humanity and the Devas.

He then unleashes the deadly demon Raktabeeja to bring destruction to mankind. In response, a divine power begins to rise. The film follows Maha, played by Bhoomi Shetty, an orphan and social outcast from Bengal who discovers that she has been chosen to channel the fierce power of Goddess Kali.

Sriya Reddy plays the divine manifestation of Maa Kaali. A notable scene, aided by realistic CGI, shows her feeding a newborn baby, suggesting an important emotional and maternal connection to the story.

Directed by Puja Kolluru and backed by showrunner Prasanth Varma, "Mahakali" promises grand visuals, dark mythology and a battle between dharma and adharma.
