With the next ODI World Cup only in 2027, it might be too early to build a solid team context around the upcoming three-match series between Australia and India, that kicks-off on Sunday (October 19). However, what we do know is that this could arguably be the last trip to Australia for the legendary duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

For the last few months, their ODI futures were the major point of speculation amongst the media, fans and pundits. There were even rumours of a possible retirement, given that most people expected Kohli and Rohit to quit after the Champions Trophy 2025 title. However, the recent statements, both verbal and non-verbal, from the senior men suggest that they are eager to play till the next ODI World Cup.
That ambition, though, is easier said than done. In a way, these three matches will be a huge test for both veterans and to state the obvious, all eyes will be on their batting form. Neither has played any competitive cricket since the IPL and rust is inevitable, given that they are only playing one format. The one big morale booster for Kohli and Rohit, however, is their records in Australia
Let us have a look some of the records in Australia that the two are featuring in.
Most ODI centuries by visiting batters
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma both have five ODI centuries in Australia, the joint-most by any visiting batter in the country. Kumar Sangakkara (5) is the only other batter to have as many hundreds.
Best ODI batting strike rate by visiting batters
Amongst visiting batters with at least 1000 ODI runs in Australia, Rohit Sharma (90.58) and Virat Kohli (89.06) are the top-two when it comes to the best batting strike-rates in Australia
Best ODI batting averages by visiting batters
Rohit Sharma (53.12) and Virat Kohli (51.03) hold the best batting averages amongst visiting batters with a minimum of 1000 ODI runs in Australia. They are the only batters to average 50-plus in Australia
Highest ODI batting average in won games by visiting batters
Virat Kohli (67.10) has the highest average in won games by visiting batters who have scored a minimum of 500 ODI runs in the country.
