Defending champions NorthEast United FC defeated debutants Diamond Harbour FC 6-1 to win the 134th edition of the Durand Cup at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK) on Saturday. The winning goals of NEUFC were scored by six different players: Asheer Akhtar (30th), Parthib Gogoi (45+1st), Thoi Singh (50th), Jairo (81st), Andy (85th) and Alaaeddine Ajaraie (90+3rd).
The victory has brought NEUFC their second successive Durand Cup win and this is historic as no other team has been able to retain the title in the last 34 years.
How much prize money did NorthEast United FC get?
NorthEast United FC took home a prize money of ₹1.21 crore, which is said to be the highest champion's purse in the history of Durand Cup.

Diamond Harbour FC, the runners-up, will walk away with ₹60 lakh. The losing semi-finalists Shillong Lajong and East Bengal will get ₹25 lakh each while losing quarter-finalists Indian Navy, Bodoland, Jamshedpur and Mohun Bagan SG will bag ₹15 lakh each, according to the Durand Cup Organising Committee (DCOC).
The 2025 Durand Cup tournament, which began on July 23, saw 24 teams competing across six groups. The matches were played in Jamshedpur, Imphal, Kokrajhar, Shillong and Kolkata.
Alaaeddine Ajaraie clinches Golden Ball and Golden Boot
Alaaeddine Ajaraie of NEUFC won the Golden Ball for the best player of the tournament and the Golden Boot for the highest goal scorer. Golden Gloves for the best goalkeeper went to Gurmeet Singh of NEUFC. All three awards carry ₹3 lakh each and a brand-new Mahindra XUV 3XO SUV.
