Manchester United are in talks to sign Royal Antwerp's 23-year-old goalkeeper Senne Lammens, reports said. Ruben Amorim's team is fast-tracking the procedures as part of bringing the custodian to Old Trafford before the summer transfer window closes on September 1.

Senne Lammens could very well be a Red Devil before the window shuts, as United are working on a deal, English media reports said. Unhappy with André Onana and Altay Bayındır's inconsistency, the club has been on the lookout for a goalkeeper, and the Belgian Lammens was on the list since the window opened. According to football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the goalkeeper and Manchester United are in ‘active talks’ to get a deal done as fast as possible. However, the team is aware of possible competition, he said. “Personal terms are almost agreed, and Man United are in active talks for the Belgian goalkeeper. MUFC try to anticipate more clubs from France and Italy, also based on exits,” Fabrizio Romano's tweet said.

Meanwhile, some reports claimed that Manchester City's struggles to take the negotiations for Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma forward with PSG could see them entering the race for the youngster. Lammens, who is a comparatively cheaper option, might attract City, they said. However, according to One Football, it could well be a pressure tactic by the Premier League giants to bring down the asking price for Donnarumma.

As per FootballTransfers.com  Lammens' value is estimated to be between €9.8 million and €12 million.

Who is Senne Lammens?

Belgium Under-21 international Lammens joined Antwerp in 2023 after nine years in two spells with Club Brugge, where he is remembered for scoring a headed goal in stoppage time against Real Madrid's under-19s in the UEFA Youth League. He made four senior appearances for Brugge before making the switch. As of mid-August 2025, he has made a total of 52 appearances for Antwerp in the Belgian Pro League. Throughout his career, he has a solid save percentage and has also been noted for his ability to save penalties.

In addition, he has represented Belgium at various youth levels and received a call-up to the senior national team. Amidst the transfer rumours, Antwerp is using Lammens as their starting goalkeeper, but has the Japanese Taishi Brandon Nozawa waiting on the sidelines to take his place.
