Indian veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were not mentioned in the latest ICC ODI Rankings. In the latest update as of August 19, neither of the Indian aces featured in the top-10 list.
In last week's update, 38-year-old Rohit Sharma was No. 2 with 756 points, while Virat Kohli stood in fourth place with 736 points. The reason for the omission remained a mystery at the time of compiling this report.
Shubman Gill is in pole position among batters with 784 rating points, while Shreyas Iyer was sixth with 704 points. It was Pakistan's Babar Azam who was placed second with 739 points.
The ICC can take a player out of the rankings chart if he/she has not played a match within the qualifying period, which is usually 9-12 months for ODIs. Also, a name can be removed following retirement from the format or the game entirely, reports said. However, neither of these reasons applies to Kohli and Sharma, who are yet to retire and were part of the Champions Trophy 2025 squad.
