With the transfer deadline nearing its end, teams are busy making their final moves before immersing themselves fully into on-field action. The 2025-26 English Premier League season kicked off last weekend but there is still time before the transfer window ends and Chelsea are putting on the nitro-boosters to secure their deal of Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United.

As reported in late July, Garnacho has had only one team in his mind for a transfer - Chelsea. The Blues have also had the Argentine winger in their radar but with priority deals in their plans, this had to wait. However, now with all the other tasks out of the way, Chelsea have advanced their discussions with Manchester United with an aim of closing the deal at the earliest.
There was an offer from Bayern Munich during the weekend for Garnacho but his strong stand for Chelsea meant that he turned down the offer to join Bundesliga. The 21-year-old had been vocal about his desire to leave the Red Devils since the end of the 2024-25 season and his warring equation with manager Ruben Amorim didn't help matters either. The challenge, though, for Garnacho was to find a new club and it seems like he is heading to Stamford Bridge this season.

A product of Manchester United's youth academy, Garnacho was touted to be the next big star of the club. Unfortunately for him and the Red Devils, that wasn't to be as the environment didn't sync well with Garnacho's stint. The musical chairs around the manager's position also added fuel to his situation, so much so that it reached a point of no return.
Garnacho had 36 Premier League appearances in the 2024-25 seasons but only managed six goals and two assists. In the Europa League, the returns was far more dismal with just a solitary goal from 15 appearances.
