Isco's injury is a major blow to Real Betis ahead of the La Liga season kickoff, as the experienced midfielder is likely to miss three months of football. While it is rumoured that the development could open the doors for Brazilian winger Antony's return to the Villamarin Stadium from Manchester United, some reports hint that Betis will prefer a midfielder to cover for their injured talisman.

Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos, who is unsettled at the Spanish capital, now has a realistic chance to return to Real Betis, reports said. However, the Xabi Alonso-managed team's stand is not entirely known, as it was reported earlier that the manager was not willing to let Ceballos go, despite him not being central to his plans. The 29-year-old Spaniard is a perfect back-up player who can be used as the season progresses or if one of the starters sustains an injury, reports had said.
Ceballos is unhappy with his limited time on the field at the Santiago Bernabeu and is mentally prepared to move on if a chance arises, reports said. He is a cheaper option for Betis compared to Antony, signing whom would require club-record spending. Real Madrid signed Ceballos from Real Betis after they identified him as one of the most promising midfielders in La Liga. He spent two years with Arsenal on loan, earning further accolades for his skills, particularly intelligent pressing, passing, and tactical flexibility.
Real Madrid are open to selling Ceballos, who has a couple of years left on his current contract, for a price ranging between £15 and £20 million, AS said. The Real Betis board was not fully on board earlier to bring him back as they were unhappy that Ceballos decided to leave the club as a free agent instead of helping them get a transfer fee. However, Isco's absence may force them to change their stance as signing Antony could cost no less than £26 million, and that is if they get lucky.
Real Betis will begin their La Liga season against Villarreal on August 17.
