In just five days, Mammootty crime thriller Kalamkaval has entered the Rs 50 crore club in worldwide collection. This makes it the sixth fastest Malayalam movie to cross the milestone.
The fast Rs 50 crore was recorded by Mohanlal's Empuraan during its pre-sales booking while his Thudarum has is the second fastest to achieve the feat in three days. Kalyani Priyadarshan's Lokah: Chapter 1: Chandra, Jayasurya's Aadujeevitham and Mohanlal's Lucifer entered the club in four days.
This five-day worldwide collection of Kalamkaval includes more than Rs 26 crore in overseas collection and over Rs 24 crore in gross domestic collection.
In net domestic collection, Kalamkaval minted Rs 1.12 crore till 5 pm on Tuesday, according to Sacnilk figures. This takes the total net collection in India to Rs 20.52 crore. The morning shows saw an occupancy of Rs 15.4 per cent while the seats in afternoon shows were filled 30.25 per cent.
Kalamkaval, which is helmed by Jithin K. Jose, the director of Dulquer Salmaan's Kurup, opened with Rs 5 crore net domestic earnings on Day 1. This was Mammootty's best opening of the year. His other two 2025 releases were Bazooka and Dominic and the Ladies Purse. The first one had a Day 1 gross collection of Rs 3.7 crore while the latter netted Rs 2.05 crore on opening day.
This increased to Rs 5.5 crore on Saturday and Rs 6 crore on Sunday. Monday, being a working day, saw the collections dip by more than half. The film earned Rs 2.9 crore on Day 4, reported Sacnilk.
Actor Vinayakan plays a key role in Kalamkaval. Other cast include Gibin Gopinath, Gayathri Arun, Rajisha Vijayan, Shruti Ramachandran, and Malavika Menon.
