The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced multiple venue changes for India's upcoming home season, which kicks off in September. The major headline concerns the venue swap for the men's side fixtures against West Indies and South Africa.
India are scheduled to host West Indies for two Tests, the first of which shall begin in Ahmedabad in October. This fixture remains unchanged, but the second game of the series, initially planned to be held at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, shall now be hosted at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Meanwhile, the Eden Gardens will host the opening Test of the South Africa series, which was initially scheduled to be held in New Delhi.
Apart from this fixture swap, another significant development is the relocation of the India-Australia women's ODIs. The three-match series was initially scheduled to be hosted at the MA Chidambaram Cricket Stadium (Chepauk) in Chennai, but infrastructural renovations have necessitated a venue change. The stadium is undergoing a revamp of the outfield and pitches, and the process is expected to take a while longer. The India-Australia series shall now be played in New Chandigarh, Mullanpur.
Bengaluru has also seen a venue change with the three List A games between India A and South Africa A now being shifted to Rajkot due to the ongoing turmoil and future uncertainties around the venue. The series is slated to start on November 13.
