Manchester United are interested in signing Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez who is a defending World champion with Argentina. Ruben Amorim's team have officially made contact to bring the 32-year-old goalkeeper to Old Trafford, a report said.

Andre Onana's inconsistency is a worrying factor for Manchester United who are having a horrible season domestically. Although replacing the Cameronian is not a priority for Amorim when it comes to imminent summer transfers, Old Trafford is willing to replace him if Martinez is available, Dsports said in a report.

Emiliano "Dibu" Martinez has been crucial for Unai Emery's Aston Villa, who secured another European season from England. The former Arsenal custodian is heavily linked to a move to the Saudi Pro League (SPL) at the end of the season. He was evidently emotional after having played the last home game of the season at the Villa Park. Barcelona is also reportedly interested in bringing Martinez on board, reports have said.

Ever since his arrival from Inter Milan in 2023 to replace club legend David De Gea, Andre Onana could never win over his critics. Despite having nine domestic clean sheets (which is one more than Martinez), Onana often gives United nightmares with his inconsistency between the sticks. His latest horror show came in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League against Lyon that the Red Devils prevailed 7-6 on aggregate.
