Manchester United academy product Angel Gomes could get another chance at Old Trafford, reports claimed. However, Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur could play spoilsport by launching a bidding war for the youngster, they added.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder, who is currently representing Ligue 1 side LOSC Lille, is liked by United manager Ruben Amorim, which could open doors for his return to England.

Ruben Amorim has already included the England international into his wishlist as summer approaches, media reports said. Gomes has already made his mind up to leave Lille when his current contract runs out in the summer, making things easier for all parties involved, the report added.

Bundesliga's Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig are also tracking Gomes along with United's direct rivals Tottenham, Newcastle United, and Aston Villa. However, United need no worry about the Germans as Gomes is eyeing a return to England, The Daily Briefing said in a report.

The attacking midfielder joined former Fench champons in 2020 from United and spent a brief loan spell at Portugal's Boavista. The 2000-born star spent 12 years (2006-2018) at Manchester United before breaking into the senior level.

Gomes, the first man born in the 2000s to play in the Premier League, was 16 years and 263 days old when he made his senior debut for the Red Devils. However, a contract extension didn't work out between the two parties which resulted in his move to France.

Interestingly, Manchester United are also linked with Gomes's current teammate Jonathan David. The centre-forward from Canada,25, is also a skilful winger who could do well in Amorim's 3-4-3 system. Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are set to leave United this summer while a big-bucks sale of Alejandra Garnacho is also on the table. The Argentine's departure is expected to help the club raise the funds needed to make some much-needed purchases when the window opens.

Struggling at 14th place in the English top-tier league with nine wins, six draws and 12 defeats, United on Sunday was knocked out of the FA Cup by Fulham after the game went into penalties.
