Who would have thought! Not even Punjab Kings fans, to be honest.
On a dewy night in Mullanpur, the home team pulled off the lowest successful defence in IPL history, successfully defending 111 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders, with veteran leggie Yuzvendra Chahal taking 4/28 in his four overs.

Interestingly, PBKS had pulled off the highest successful run chase in 2024 against KKR, hunting down 262 in 18.4 overs.
Despite Chahal's heroics, the Punjab side were given a mighty scare by KKR all-rounder Andre Russell (17), who was the last man dismissed. His knock included a 16-run over against Chahal under immense pressure. But it was not to be, as the KKR folded up for 95.
Chahal, who has not been among the wickets this season, showed his class with key wickets of KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane (17), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (37), Rinku Singh (2) and Ramandeep Singh (0).
He got stellar support from South African all-rounder Marco Jansen, who picked up 3/17, which included the wicket of dangerman Russell.

Earlier, electing to bat after winning the toss, Punjab Kings wasted away a brisk start from Priyansh Arya (22) and Prabhsimran Singh (30), crumbling from 39/1 to 54/4 inside the powerplay. They never recovered from the early blows from KKR pacer Harshit Rana (3/25), with spinners Sunil Narine (2/14) and Varun Chakaravarthy (2/21) doing the rest.
Punjab Kings are fourth on the IPL 2025 points table, while KKR are sixth.
