ICC Champions Trophy 2025 LIVE: Four Bangladesh top-order batters including captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim were dismissed for one-digit scores on Thursday as Indian bowlers produced a memorable performance at the Dubai Internation Stadium. Opener Tanzid Hasan was the only batter (25 off 25) who could make a decent score among the Bangladesh top-four. While Shanto and Hasan's opening partner Soumya Sarkar were dismissed for ducks, Mehidy Hasan Miraz could only make 5.
Lowest score in ICC Champions Trophy history
During the time of compiling this report, Bangladesh was struggling at 42-5, needing another 23 runs to avoid an unwanted record of being the team to be dismissed for the lowest total in the history of the ICC Champions Trophy.

According to ESPN CricInfo, USA's 65 at Southampton against Australia on September 13, 2004, is the lowest team score in the tournament. Steve Massiah (23) was the only US batter who could take his score past the two-digit mark at Southampton that day as seamers Jason Gillespie and Michael Kasprowicz claimed four wickets each for the then-world champions. Australia won the match by nine wickets as they lost opener Matthew Hayden for 23.
Bangladesh's 77 against New Zealand in Colombo in 2002 is the second-lowest total in ICC Champions Trophy knock-outs, followed by West Indies' 80 against Sri Lanka in 2006.

Zimbabwe were bowled for 85 against West Indies in Ahmedabad (2006) and the Netherlands could only manage 86 against Sri Lanka in Colombo (2002). Pakistan (89 against South Africa in Mohali in 2006), Bangladesh (93 against South Africa in Birmingham in 2004) and Kenya (94 against Pakistan in Birmingham in 2004) are the other teams to have been bowled out for scores under 100 in the history of the tournament, data show.
India vs Bangladesh
Earlier, Bangladesh chose to bat first after winning the toss. Heading into their Champions Trophy opener Shanto was filled with optimism. "If you look at this format, our team is quite balanced and we believe we can beat any team in this tournament. All teams are capable of winning this trophy but I am someone who is not thinking about the opponents much. If we execute our plan properly we can beat any team in any day," Shanto had said. However, it seems like his hope of starting the tournament on a strong note is all but over.
