“Vijayam” is the official title of actor Nivin Pauly’s milestone 50th film, also known as NP 50. The project is written, directed, and edited by Alphonse Puthren, making it one of the most talked-about Malayalam film announcements of recent years.
The title reveal and teaser were officially released on June 27, 2026, creating strong excitement among fans. This film is especially significant as it reunites Nivin Pauly and Alphonse Puthren after 11 years, following their blockbuster success with "Premam" in 2015.
The teaser poster presents Nivin Pauly in a sleek, rugged biker and racer-inspired look, suggesting a high-energy action entertainer (or a sports drama?).
The amusing title announcement video, about 4 mins long, resembles a short film. We find Puthren in a field, waiting for someone to offer him a lift. While he waits, he passes the time photographing ants and insects (a cheeky reference to his trademark close-up shots in "Premam" and other films). Soon, Nivin, in a bike racer get-up, lands in front of Puthren, telling him that he has been trying to track him down for a while and that they've got "work to do."
The collaboration between Pauly and Puthren has a strong history, going back over a decade. Their first film together, "Neram" (2013), was a bilingual thriller that marked Puthren’s directorial debut, which fetched notice for its fresh storytelling style.
Their second film, "Premam" (2015), became a cultural phenomenon across South India. It was a massive box-office success and went on to achieve cult status, especially among the youth. Because of this legacy, "Vijayam" is being viewed as a highly anticipated reunion project. Moreover, Puthren's last film, "Gold" (with Prithviraj Sukumaran), didn't exactly set the box office on fire and invited intense trolling.
"Vijayam" is expected to reverse the damage with a combination of mass appeal, stylish visuals and strong storytelling.
The film is jointly produced by Tonson Tony, Sunil Ramady, and Nivin Pauly under his home banner, Pauly Jr Pictures.
Alongside "Vijayam", Nivin Pauly has a busy lineup of upcoming films across different genres. These include "Bethlehem Kudumba Unit", a romantic comedy directed by Girish A.D. and scheduled for an Onam 2026 release, co-starring Mamitha Baiju. Another major project is "Benz", an action thriller directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan, in which Nivin plays the antagonist Walter; the film is part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe. He also has "Dear Students", a campus comedy-drama co-starring Nayanthara, currently in post-production.
Puthren himself has recently been more active in front of the camera, having appeared in several films in cameo or supporting roles. His most recent acting gig was in the blockbuster "Vaazha II: Biopic of a Billion Bros" (2026), where he played DySP Xavier Alexander in a notable supporting role. Last year, he appeared briefly in another blockbuster, Nivin Pauly-starrer "Sarvam Maya" (2025), in which he played Dr Rafael, a laidback character making comical meta references to his post-Gold social media meltdown.
