After surviving a near-fatal accident, cricketer Rishabh Pant has undergone plastic surgery on his left eyebrow and is responding well, as per reports.

Due to the severe injuries he suffered in the accident, Pant is likely to miss the upcoming four-Test series against Australia.

Reportedly, one of the biggest challenges for the new selection committee will be to select the two keeper batters for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Pant, 25, had lost control of his Mercedes car while driving from Delhi to Rourkee and hit the divider in Mohammadpur Jat in the Manglaur area. He is now being treated at Max Dehradun for multiple injuries.

He had suffered injuries on his back, forehead and leg.

"He has extensive swelling so MRI of his ankle and knee is yet to be conducted. Once he is fit enough to travel, he will come to Mumbai where he will be under the board's empanelled doctor Dinshaw Pardiwala," a BCCI source told PTI.

A team of Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) officials met with him at Dehradun's Max hospital on Saturday.

DDCA director Shyam Sharma said that Pant was "responding well to the treatment."

"Our BCCI doctors are in touch with the doctors here. Jay Shah is also monitoring the situation," said Shyam to reporters.

He had also requested fans to avoid visiting him at the hospital.

"Those who are going to meet Pant should avoid, as there are chances of infection," he said.

"There should be no VIP movement to meet Pant, and people visiting him should avoid it as there are chances of infection for Pant," the DDCA director told ANI.

Haryana Roadways has honoured driver Sushil Kumar and conductor Paramjeet who helped cricketer Rishabh Pant get out of his luxury car after it crashed into a road divider and caught fire on the Delhi-Dehradun highway.

The state government is also likely to honour the two, according to sources. Haryana Transport Minister Mool Chand Sharma said that the two presented an example of humanity.
