T20 World Cup: India in semis after Netherlands beat South Africa

Both Pakistan and Bangladesh has chances to enter the semis

The stunning win for the Netherlands against South Africa in Adelaide on Sunday, paved way for India to enter the semi-finals. With the Netherlands beating South Africa by 13 runs, India secured their place in the semis of the T20 World Cup. South Africa was knocked out of the World Cup following the defeat. 

With South Africa crashing out of the T20 World Cup, both Pakistan and Bangladesh have chances to enter the semis from Group 2. Presently both team has 4 points and whoever wins the ongoing match against each other in Adelaide will qualify for the semis. 

India, which is currently on the top with 6 points will be getting 8 points if they win their upcoming match against Zimbabwe in Melbourne on Sunday. As per the current situation, winning or losing would not matter for team India. 

It was quite a turn of events, Netherlands recorded one of their biggest victories in world cricket by beating South Africa. It was Netherlands second win in the Super 12 stage, having defeated Zimbabwe by five wickets earlier.


Sent into bat, Netherlands rode on a collective effort from its top-order to post 158 for 4.

Colin Ackermann top-scored for Netherlands with a 26-ball unbeaten 41, while Tom Cooper made 35 off 19 balls.

Keshav Maharaj (2/27) picked up two wickets for South Africa.

Defending the target, Netherlands bowlers rose to the occasion and restricted South Africa to 145 for 8 with Brandon Glover (3/9) scalping three batters.

Rilee Rossouw top-scored for South Africa with a 25-run knock.

South Africa: 145 for 8 in 20 overs
