Light-hearted banter between former cricketers Mohammad Amir and Harbhajan Singh escalated into an ugly spat on Twitter, two days after Pakistan thumped India by 10 wickets in the T20 World Cup.

After the match, the former Pakistan fast bowler had tweeted in the early hours of Monday, asking if Harbhajan broke his TV after the loss, in an apparent reference to Indian fans who taunted Pakistanis of smashing their TVs after every loss to India at World Cups.

By winning on Sunday, Pakistan ended a 12-match losing streak to India in 50-over and T20 World Cups.

Last night, the former India spinner countered Amir's dig with a video of him hitting the Pakistan bowler for a six in the last over of an old match.

“Did this six land on your TV at home?” Harbhajan wrote. “End of the day it is a game of cricket as you rightly said.”

Amir then shared a video of Shahid Afridi hitting Harbhajan for four sixes in four balls in a Test match. From there, the exchanges turned ugly.

Harbhajan slammed Amir for his no-ball delivery in Lords in 2010, the spot-fixing incident that resulted in Amir's ban from cricket.

“How was there a no ball at Lord's? How much did you take (and) who paid you? How can someone deliver a no ball in Test cricket?” wrote Harbhajan.

"Get lost I feel yuk talking to people like you for insulting this game and making people fool with ur acts," he wrote in another tweet.

Amir responded: “Talking about my past will not change the fact that you lost on Sunday. And what about your illegal bowling action? Now, just watch us lift the World Cup....”

The two then responded to others commenting on the exchange and retweeted some of their reactions late into the night.
