Amid reports that India skipper Virat Kohli will relinquish the limited-overs captaincy post the T20 World Cup, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) treasurer Arun Dhumal, reportedly, dismissed the reports, saying that the Board has not discussed anything on the matter and that he will continue to captain the team in all formats.

"This is all rubbish. Nothing as such is going to happen. This is all media creation," NDTV quoted Dhumal as saying. "BCCI has not met or discussed anything on this issue."

Earlier, a Times of India report had said Kohli will step down as the captain in the white-ball format, and Rohit Sharma will take over from him. The report also said that it was Kohli's call as he wanted to focus on his batting, and that he will announce it himself.

"Kohli feels his batting, across formats, needs more time and greater impetus as Team India looks at two World Cups—T20 and ODI—between 2022 and 2023 respectively," Times of India reported.

Kohli has captained India in 45 T20 Internationals (T20Is) and 95 ODIs, winning 27 in the shortest format and 65 in ODIs.

The report on 'split captaincy' comes at a time when BCCI's decision to appoint former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni as Team India mentor for the T20 World Cup, has raised several eyebrows. After the 2013 Champions Trophy win, India have lost in the knockout stages in five ICC white-ball tournaments.

The T20 World Cup begins on October 17 in the United Arab Emirates and Oman and will go on till November 14. India will open their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 24.
