Spain and Sweden entered the last-16 of the Euro 2020 in contrasting fashion in their respective matches in Group E today.

The Spaniards crushed Slovakia 5-0 in their final Group E match on Wednesday to finish second in the group. They will meet Croatia in the last-16 clash in Copenhagen.

Aymeric Laporte, Pablo Sarabia and Ferran Torres were the goal scorers for Spain. They were also helped by two own goals from Martin Dubravka and Juraj Kucka.

Slovakia were eliminated as four other third-placed teams had either more points or a better goal difference.

Dubravka denied Alvaro Morata early from the penalty spot but turned the villain for Slovakia as his attempt to punch a rebound off Sarabia's shot over the bar, resulted in palming the ball into his own net.

Aymeric Laporte doubled the lead before halftime. Sarabia then found the net off a cross from left-back Jordi Alba. He then turned provider when he set up substitute Torres who scored the fourth goal.

Spain forced another own goal minutes later when Kucka failed to clear off the line.

Meanwhile, Sweden topped the group with a thrilling 3-2 win over Poland, who were knocked out of the Euro 2020.

Sweden appeared set for an easy win after Emil Forsberg scored the second fastest goal in Euro Cup history, with an 82nd second-strike, followed by a second-half goal.

But Poland's Robert Lewandowski, who hit the bar twice in the first half, narrowed Sweden's lead two minutes later. He got a second in the 84th minute to raise visions of a draw.

But Viktor Claesson got Sweden's winner in stoppage time.

In the last-16 stage, Sweden will face one of the third-placed sides in Glasgow on June 29.
