As India and the rest of the world race to develop a vaccine for the novel coronavirus, cricketer Harbhajan Singh took to Twitter to cite statistics regarding the country’s COVID-19 recovery rate and accuracy of the vaccines being developed. However, the veteran spinner seems to have drawn the wrong conclusion from the data available.
Stating data on vaccines and its accuracy, Harbhajan asked whether Indians “seriously need vaccine” as the recovery rate “without vaccine” shows a similar figure.
He cited Pfizer and Biotech vaccine’s accuracy rate at 94 per cent, Moderna’s at 94.5 per cent and Oxford’s at 90 per cent, and wondered if Indians needed the vaccine as the COVID-19 recovery rate in the country stand at 93.6 per cent.

Accuracy *94%
Moderna Vaccine: Accuracy *94.5%
Oxford Vaccine: Accuracy *90%
Indian Recovery rate (Without Vaccine): 93.6%
Do we seriously need vaccine 🤔🤔
Social media users schooled the cricketer on his wrong interpretation of the data and why vaccination is necessary. Check out some of the responses Harbhajan received on his tweet:
When Indian batsman can chase 350 runs in an ODI match then why do we need specialist bowlers, even part time bowlers will do

When a spinner is bowling at slow speed why do we need pads for the legs, our bones are strong enough to sustain#BhajjieLogic 🤷🏻♂️https://t.co/pTizpV3tgS
