Ramnaresh Sarwan has hit back at Gayle’s accusations that the former had anything to do with the latter’s release from the Carribean Premier League team Jamaica Tallawahs. The West Indies batsman and Tallawahs assistant coach called Gayle’s accusations ‘scandalous’ in a statement made through his Facebook account.

“I categorically deny any involvement in the decision or the decision-making process, which led to Gayle's non-selection to represent the Jamaica Tallawahs in the 2020 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) Tournament,” said Sarwan. Gayle had accused Sarwan and the management of the Jamaica Tallawahs of playing a game to oust him from the team. In an outburst through his personal YouTube channel, Gayle blamed Sarwan and the team management led by Kris Persaud for not informing him of their plans to oust him from the Jamaica Tallawahs.

Sarwan called Gayle’s outburst ‘quite unfortunate’ and said that the only reason he came out with a statement was to protect the character of people like him who were falsely accused.  "In that video, he has levelled false allegations and tarnished the good name and reputation of a series of persons," Sarwan said. The Jamaica Tallawahs had also come out with an official statement saying that Gayle’s release was made collectively by the team management and its ownership and did not involve Sarwan.
