Former Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria was engaged in a Twitter spat with another ex-Pakistan cricketer Faisal Iqbal as both of them exchanged some unpleasant words on the social media platform.

Iqbal had started the exchange by retweeting a tweet by Rob Moody, a YouTuber and cricket fan who uploads clips of matches on his channel. Moody had posted a video of a Test match between Pakistan and West Indies in Multan from 2006. The video showed Kaneria sledging West Indies cricketer Brian Lara, who hit the next three balls bowled by the Pakistani bowler for sixes. Moody wrote, “One of the greatest sledging fails in cricket EVER. Completely idiotic Pakistan bowler sledging Brian Lara, of all batsman. How'd that work out for you son?? 6 6 6 4. Thats how. Now what did you learn?? (sic)”.

Retweeting the same, Iqbal wrote, “I still remember this match as a 12man and was just watching the sixes going in the stands in his 200 double hundred... defiantly a dumb ass sledge by Kaneria to the king @BrianLara and than later Kaneria himself got scared (sic)”.

Kaneria responded to Iqbal by pointing it out to him to check his statistics first, and also mention the matches the former had won.

“Look who is talking about cricket Please check you stats first. Also mention other matches that I have won. By the way, @BrianLara was a legendary cricketer. I respect him a lot,” Kaneria tweeted.

However, Faisal hit back at Kaneria by calling him “a fixer and a liar”.

“Better than a FIXER and a LIAR  stats.. who sold his soul for year’s in GREED and now trying to gain a FAKE sympathy by playing Religion card 24/7!! Proudly wore this on my chest and proud of my all around stats at least they are CLEAN!!” Iqbal tweeted. Kaneria was charged in a spot-fixing case in 2012 while playing county cricket for Essex. The Pakistani bowler had also alleged that he was discriminated against by his teammates because of his faith as he was the only Hindu cricketer in the team.

The former leg-spinner, however, slammed Iqbal, calling him an attention seeker. He said that he is proud to be Pakistani, and he never sold his nation for money.

“I never sold my country for money. I am proud to be a Pakistani. There are people who have sold their country and who are still welcomed in the team. Will you speak about them? And everyone knows how you have played cricket. Attention seeker,” Kaneria tweeted.
