India skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to field against New Zealand in the second ODI of the three-match series at Eden Park at Auckland on Saturday.
The home side began on a confident note with Henry Nicholls and Martin Guptill putting up a 93-run stand at just under a run a ball. Nicholls was trapped leg before wicket by Yuzvendra Chahal for 41.
Guptill and Tom Blundell then took the score to 142 before Shardul Thakur had Blundell caught by Navdeep Saini for 22. Guptill hit three 6s and seven 4s in his 79 and was looking good for more when he was run out in the 29th over. At the time of writing this report, New Zealand was 159 for 3 in 30 overs. Ross Taylor, who scored a century in the first match, is batting on 11 with New Zealand captain Tom Latham on 1 run.

India made two changes, bringing in Navdeep Saini and Yuzvendra Chahal in place of Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav. New Zealand, on the other hand, replaced Ish Sodhi and Mitchell Santner with Mark Chapman and Kyle Jamieson in the playing 11.
New Zealand took a 1-0 lead in the series with a four-wicket win in the first ODI.
