The Karnataka Police arrested former kabaddi player and Arjuna award winner B.C. Ramesh for allegedly assaulting a top woman kabaddi player Usha Rani in Bengaluru.

Police said that Ramesh and three other officials from the Karnataka Kabaddi Association were arrested in the incident which happened at a kabaddi camp in the city. They were charged with assaulting Asian Games silver-medalist Usha Rani with an intent to outrage her modesty.

Usha Rani had filed a written complaint with the police following the incident. 

According to reports, Ramesh and others hurled abuses at Usha Rani after she got into an argument with the group on Tuesday. She said in her complaint that she was asked to report to the association, but upon reaching, she was allegedly assaulted by the officials. Police said that Usha Rani was abused and kicked by the officials, before they caught hold of her t-shirt and molested her.

Ramesh is the organising secretary of the Karnataka Kabaddi Association. He has also served as coach with kabaddi teams Bengaluru Bulls, Bengal Tigers and Puneri Paltan.
