Tennis star Serena Williams has come out with a bold new video to create awareness on breast cancer by going topless and singing The Divinyls' 'I Touch Myself'. October is observed as Breast Cancer Awareness month, an annual campaign to spread awareness on the disease.

In the video, Serena is seen covering her breasts with her hands as she sings the hit song. The video was made as part of the I Touch Myself Project, a breast cancer awareness initiative, prompting women to put their health first and check for signs of breast cancer regularly. The short video ends with the message to “Touch Yourself” as “A Breast Health Reminder”.

The 23-time tennis champion has shared the video on her Instagram page. She mentions that though this put her out of her comfort zone, she wanted to remind women that breast cancer “affects all women of all colors, all around the world”.

“Yes, this put me out of my comfort zone, but I wanted to do it because it’s an issue that affects all women of all colors, all around the world. Early detection is key - it saves so many lives. I just hope this helps to remind women of that.”

Chrissy Amphlett, who was the lead singer of the Australian rock band The Divinyls, passed away from breast cancer in 2013. The song 'I Touch Myself' was released as part of their self-titled album in 1990. It has since been used to spead awareness on breast cancer.
