From 'Diablo IV' to 'F1 2026': 28 games everyone's waiting for in 2026 (Part 2)

This is the second in a four-part series on the most anticipated indie and big-budget games awaited in 2026

The new year ushers in a host of new games eager to make their mark, in addition to a number of titles that have tested people with each painful delay.

From big-budget releases like Grand Theft Auto VI and Crimson Desert—discussed in part 1—to indie titles looking to become runaway hits like Hollow Knight: Silksong and Hades II did in 2025, this year has something for all tastes.

Here is the second set of the 28 games that everyone's waiting for this year:

Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred - Apr 28, 2026

This expansion for Diablo IV, arguably one of the biggest reveals of the 2025 Game Awards, features the Age of Hatred reaching its climax, as Activision Blizzard calls it.

You not only get two new classes of characters (including the Paladin, from Diablo II), but also a new region called Skovos, gameplay changes, as well as a battle against Mephisto and, surprise surprise, Lilith.

F1 2026 - Summer 2026

This year, Codemasters has chosen to integrate F1 2026 as a new season (paid expansion) within F1 2025, because bigger things are brewing in 2027.

Still, what makes this interesting will be the completely revised set of rules and new cars close to what you will see in the real-world Formula One as well.

Pokemon Pokopia - Mar 5, 2026

This calm simulation title (also called a ‘cosy game’) exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 lets you walk in the shoes of a Ditto that has transformed to look like a human as it aims to transform a piece of land into a haven for Pokemon.

Think Animal Crossing and The Sims games, but for Pokemon, and made by the co-developers of Dragon Quest Builders 2.

Hela - 2026

Blending what promises to be incredibly immersive gameplay with expansive Scandinavian visuals, Hela is an indie co-op game where you play as white mice on a mission to help their ailing mistress, a witch.

Hela seems to have a mood of its own, unperturbed by the amount of indie competition this year, choosing to focus on an experience.

Fable - 2026

Coming 16 years after the release of Fable III, this remake of the Fable franchise—surprisingly from Playground Studios, the folks behind the Forza Horizon games—is a reboot of the 2000s RPGs.

Playground Studios now faces a humongous task ahead—to do justice to the world of Albion, get that authentic British humour right, and modernise the gameplay.

Thick as Thieves - 2026

Set in the 1910s, this part-first-person, part-stealth RPG (with a bit of magic!) from veteran developer Warren Spector is said to be a modern twist of games like Thief and Deus Ex Machina.

The point of the game is to rise through the ranks, but by any means necessary—and you get a lot of means in this game where a thief could be lurking around every corner.

Screamer - Mar 26, 2026

This story-driven game is not just a good-looking modern remake of the 1995 game—it’s both gorgeous 90s anime and futuristic in a dystopian way.

Screamer offers a high-octane illegal street racing tournament with five teams, tens of stories, and a hand-crafted atmosphere of its own.
