Meta has teamed up with Oakley to launch a new category of smart eyewear designed specifically for athletes and fitness enthusiasts. Called the Oakley Meta HSTN, the glasses are positioned as “the next evolution of AI glasses”, combining Meta’s cutting-edge artificial intelligence with Oakley’s iconic sportswear design.

Unlike previous lifestyle-focused smart glasses, the Oakley Meta HSTN is purpose-built for high-performance environments. It features a built-in 3K ultra-HD camera, open-ear speakers, and IPX4 water resistance, making it suitable for workouts, outdoor training, and other demanding use cases. The glasses also include on-device Meta AI, allowing users to interact with an assistant that can provide support during their activity - from real-time coaching cues to hands-free information access.

Meta says the glasses offer up to eight hours of active use or 19 hours of standby time, with a fast-charging feature that powers the device upto 50 per cent in just 20 minutes. A pocket-sized charging case provides up to 48 additional hours of battery life, making it a practical choice for athletes on the move.

“With Meta AI, your personal AI assistant… athletes can get more out of their Oakley Meta HSTNs right out of the box,” Meta noted in its official announcement.

The Oakley Meta HSTN was designed not only for performance but also for style, maintaining the bold aesthetic that Oakley is known for. The company has tapped global sports icons such as Kylian Mbappé and Patrick Mahomes to help introduce the glasses to a new generation of tech-savvy athletes.

While Meta has already launched smart eyewear in partnership with Ray-Ban, this new release marks a more functional shift towards wearables that support sports and physical training. The device expands Meta’s footprint in the AI wearables category and signals a clear move to integrate smart technology into everyday athletic gear.

The Oakley Meta HSTN will be available for pre-order from July 11, starting with a limited-edition gold-accent version priced at $499. Standard models will launch later this summer starting at $399. The rollout will begin in North America, Europe and Australia, with markets such as India and the UAE expected to follow by the end of the year.
