Nasa astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore are back on Earth after spending nine months in the outer space. The Crew-9 splashed down in the Atlantic Ocean off the Florida coast following a 17-hour flight.

1) The mission, which was originally planned for eight days, began on June 5, 2024. However, Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore had to stay aboard the International Space Station (ISS) for more than nine months.
2) Williams and Wilmore spent a total of 286 days during their mission.
3) This means, they completed 4,567 orbits around the planet.

4) In total, they travelled 12,13,47,491 miles, which translates to 195.3 million km.
5) Sunita Williams walked in the space twice during this mission. In total, she spent 62 hours and six minutes outside the ISS.
6) This gives her the record for spacewalking for longest duration by a woman. She is ranked 4th in the all-time spacewalking duration. Butch Wilmore and Nick Hague conducted one spacewalk each.
7) Sunita Williams is now the second astronaut to spend the longest time in space with a total of 608 days in orbit.

8) Peggy Whitson holds the record for spending most time in space at 675 days.
9) Sunita Williams is followed by Jeff Williams with 534 days in space, Mark Vande Hei (523) and Scott Kelly (520).
10) The record for longest continuous stay in space is held by Russian cosmonaut Valeri Polyakov who spent 437 consecutive days aboard the Mir space station.
