Google on Tuesday unveiled its video game streaming platform Stadia which allows users to play games on their internet browser or any internet-connected device without using games consoles.

The announcement was made at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. Google hasn't made public the details on timing, pricing or available titles for Stadia.

Google demonstrated titles from the Doom and Assassin's Creed games. It added that it would be developing games in-house as well for Stadia.

Stadia would launch in the US, Canada and Europe. It would support desktops, TVs connected to Chromecast streaming media sticks, laptops, tablets and phones. 

The platform will store sessions in the cloud and lets players jump across devices operating on Google's Chrome browser and Chrome OS.

Chief executive Sundar Pichai said the aim is to build a game platform for everyone. Stadia can connect people to participate in interactive games on any device. Google said that the technology has been provided to more than 100 game developers.

Google also unveiled a new controller for Stadia that can be used to play cloud-based individual or multiplayer games.
