As tributes poured in on the passing away of renowned cosmologist Stephen Hawking on Wednesday, NASA posted a video of the late scientist talking with astronauts aboard the International Space Station. In the video, Hawking can be seen speaking to astronauts Rick Mastracchio and Koichi Wakata during their mission in 2014.

"Remembering Stephen Hawking, a renowned physicist and ambassador of science. His theories unlocked a universe of possibilities that we & the world are exploring. May you keep flying like superman in microgravity, as you said to astronauts on @Space_Station in 2014," tweeted NASA.

Social media, especially micro-blogging site Twitter, is flooded with condolence messages and tributes to the pioneer in modern cosmology.

"The world has lost a beautiful mind and a brilliant scientist. RIP Stephen Hawking," tweeted Google CEO Sundar Pichai.

"We lost a great one today. Stephen Hawking will be remembered for his incredible contributions to science – making complex theories and concepts more accessible to the masses. He’ll also be remembered for his spirit and unbounded pursuit to gain a complete understanding of the universe, despite the obstacles he faced. May he rest peacefully as his legacy and brilliance live on," wrote Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella in his LinkedIn account, which was later shared on Twitter.
