US President Donald Trump on Sunday expressed strong displeasure over Iran’s response to a US proposal aimed at ending the ongoing Middle East conflict, calling it “totally unacceptable.”

“I have just read the response from Iran's so-called 'Representatives.' I don't like it—TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

Speaking earlier to US media outlet Axios, he accused Tehran of “playing games with the United States for nearly 50 years" and described Iran’s response as “inappropriate.”

"I don't like their letter. It's inappropriate. I don't like their response," he said.

Meanwhile, Iranian news agency IRNA confirmed that Tehran, through Pakistani mediators, had sent its reply to the latest US proposal. “According to the proposed plan, at this stage, negotiations will focus on ending the war in the region,” the agency reported.

Though full details of Iran’s response remain unclear, reports suggest it includes specific demands for Washington to lift sanctions on Iran, end the blockade on Iranian ports, withdraw US forces from the region, and cease all hostilities, including calls to stop “Israel’s war in Lebanon.”

On Sunday, Trump told independent journalist Sharyl Attkisson that the US is closely monitoring Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles and warned that any attempt to access the sites would trigger immediate military action. He also reiterated that Tehran’s defensive and offensive capabilities have been systematically dismantled.

The US and Iran war began on February 28, with attacks paused on April 8 following a ceasefire. Negotiations for a lasting peace deal have continued, but a resolution remains elusive.
