At least 3 Indians injured after Iranian drone strike on Fujairah oil zone: What we know so far

At least three people—all Indians—on Monday suffered "moderate injuries" after an Iranian drone strike on the Fujairah Petroleum Industries Zone (FOIZ) caused a major fire.

"The injured have been transferred to the hospital for the necessary treatment," read a statement on X from the Fujairah Media Office confirming the news.

It added that the emirate's rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the scene of the incident, and are currently working to control the fire and evacuate those in danger.

No casualties have been reported so far in the Iranian drone strike—one of the first in the war between Iran and US-Israel forces, which has crossed two months.

The Indian embassy in Abu Dhabi issued a swift response, acknowledging the plight of the injured Indians, but offering no remark on the situation.

"We are in touch with local authorities for ensuring adequate medical care and welfare of the affected Indian nationals," it wrote in an X post.

The UAE has "strongly condemned" the renewed Iranian attacks, with its Ministry of Defense later issuing a statement, declaring that its air defences were dealing with ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones again.

"MOD asserts that the sounds heard across the country are the result of ongoing engaging operations of missiles and UAV's," it said in a statement on X.

This comes after US President Donald Trump rejected Tehran's 14-point peace proposal—which Iran had said was aimed at a permanent end to the war rather than getting at a ceasefire—saying that it was "not acceptable", as per a report from Israeli media outlet Kan News.

He flagged parts of the proposal saying that he could not agree with them, mirroring his earlier sentiments on the proposal.

"(The Iranians) have not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to Humanity, and the World, over the last 47 years," he had written in a Truth Social post before rejecting the proposal later on.

The Iranian attacks on Fujairah also come after the Central Command (CENTCOM) of the US military announced on Monday that two US-flagged merchant vessels trapped in the Strait of Hormuz had been guided by American warships out of the strait, as a part of Project Freedom, Washington's initiative to move commercial ships "not involved" in the war out of the strait.

Iran, however, had warned of strong military action if foreign military forces were to "approach or enter the Strait of Hormuz", Major General Ali Abdollahi told state broadcaster IRIB.
