Tragic deaths of 4 young Indian brothers in Abu Dhabi car crash rattle expat community

The fatal accident occurred while the family was returning to Dubai after spending time at the Liwa Festival in Abu Dhabi

Four children, all brothers aged five to 14, hailing from Kerala, died in the UAE in a car crash on Sunday morning. They were laid to rest at a Dubai cemetery on Tuesday afternoon while their parents and sister were still in hospital.

The deceased children were identified as Ashaz, 14, Ammar, 12, Azzaam, 7, and Ayyash, 5. Ashaz, Ammar and Ayyash died on the spot along with the family's domestic worker Bushra Fayaz Yahu, 49, on Sunday. Azzaam succumbed to his injuries on Monday.

The parents, identified as Abdul Latheef and Rukhsana, and their daughter Izzaa, 10, were hospitalised in Abu Dhabi.

Bushra's body was sent to Kerala on Monday evening and her funeral was conducted on Tuesday morning.

The family members informed the father Abdul Latheef on Sunday night while mother Rukhsana was told only on Tuesday. The parents and the young sister were shown the mortal remains of the children at the hospital before they were transported to Dubai on Tuesday afternoon.

Following this, the four brothers were buried at Al Qusais Cemetery in Muhaisnah, Dubai, in the presence of relatives and friends around 4.30 pm.

Abdul Latheef runs a business in Ras Al Khaimah while Rukhsana is a real estate consultant. The family was spending time at the Liwa Festival in Abu Dhabi during the winter break. The accident occurred on the way back to Dubai, ahead of the children's school reopening.
