The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) recovered 115 kg of cocaine, worth an estimated ₹1,150 crore on international markets, from the sea off the Mundra coast during a night operation conducted in the early hours of May 26, 2026.

The operation was set in motion by specific intelligence shared by ATS Gujarat. Acting on it, ICG Interceptor Boats, with ATS personnel on board, launched a search in the Mundra anchorage area.

During the sweep, the joint team spotted suspicious activity aboard a container vessel, MV Europe, anchored approximately five nautical miles off Mundra. Several bags were observed being thrown overboard from the ship, according to a statement released by the ICG.

Operating under challenging low-visibility conditions in the dead of night, the joint team moved swiftly to recover five bags from the sea. On examination, the bags were found to contain 115 packets of a white powdery substance, each weighing approximately one kilogram, that tested positive for cocaine. The contraband's estimated international market value stands at approximately ₹1,150 crore, based on open-source assessments.

The vessel, MV Europe, has since been brought to port for investigation. Joint probe by the ICG, ATS Gujarat, and other agencies is currently underway. No arrests have been confirmed in the statement, and further details are awaited.

The operation marks the fifteenth joint anti-narcotics mission undertaken by the ICG and ATS Gujarat in the past five years. Both agencies hailed the operation as part of the national commitment towards a "Nasha Mukt Bharat" (Drug-Free India).
