Two inland motor vessels collided on Monday evening (local time) in the Noord River near the Alblasserdam area of the Netherlands.

The two vessels involved in the maritime accident were Den Bosch Max Groen (ENI: 2338915), a motor freighter, and the Maik Deymann (ENI: 2317465), a type-N liquid cargo motor tanker.

Neither any casualties nor any marine pollution were reported in the incident.

The police, the Seaport Police, and the ambulance service were called in to assist support activities, in addition to the Rijkswaterstaat, which responded by sending a vessel.

After the collision, which reportedly damaged one vessel on its port side (left side), the vessels involved were moored near the BCTN container terminal at the Nieuwland Park in Alblasserdam, where they are being handled there.

The Dutch police have said that the cause of the accident is still under investigation.

This comes just weeks after at least one person died on the night of December 21 (local time), after two cruise vessels collided on Egypt's Nile River.

The collision took place between the Royal Beau Rivage, a deluxe river boat, and the Opera, a regular river boat, nearly 2km away from the Esna Lock—a lock and dam system on the Nile River that regulates water levels in the stretch between Aswan and Luxor.

The collision took place because the captain of the Royal Beau Rivage allegedly made a sudden, sharp turn to one side as it approached the Opera from the opposite side—violating Egypt's river rule, according to which vessels travelling in the direction of the water currents are to be given priority.

It was this sudden turn that allegedly caused the "extremely violent" crash, leading to the death of Denise Ruggeri, a 47-year-old Italian tourist aboard the Royal Beau Rivage.

Three cabins of the Royal Beau Rivage have also been destroyed, while the Opera has suffered damage to its bow.
