A court in New Delhi on Thursday granted more time to Delhi Police to file a supplementary charge sheet in an attempted bribery case against sacked AIADMK Deputy General Secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran vis-a-vis poll symbol allocation by the election commission.

Special Judge Poonam Chaudhary allowed more time to police and listed the matter for hearing on December 5.

The court also extended the judicial custody of Sukesh Chandrashekhar, an aide of Dhinakaran, till November 23.

On July 14, police charge-sheeted Chandrashekhar for alleged forgery of valuable security, forgery for the purpose of cheating, making a false document and criminal conspiracy under the Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Chandrashekhar was arrested on April 16.

Dhinakaran, accused of trying to bribe Election Commission officials to get the "two leaves" poll symbol for an AIADMK faction led by his aunt V.K. Sasikala, was arrested on April 25. He was granted bail on June 1.

The police has said they would file a separate investigation report against Dhinakaran and other accused later.

The police had accused Chandrashekhar, Dhinakaran and others of hatching a criminal conspiracy to bribe the Election Commission officials.

The money seized from Chandrashekhar was sent by Dhinakaran through illegal channels with the help of others, the police alleged.

Mallikarjuna, a long-time friend of Dhinakaran, and Naresh Jain, a "hawala" operator from Delhi, are the other suspects in the case.
