Nitin Nabin’s rally on Monday in Kolkata, 'Ganatantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ was a message against the INDIA bloc’s Ramlila Maidan rally on Sunday in Delhi.
The BJP national president travelled miles to Suvendu Adhikari’s land to reiterate to supporters that Congress heavyweight Rahul Gandhi should accept and learn from his failures. Nabin also targeted the Mamata All India Trinamool Congress (MAITC) supremo Mamata Banerjee.
“You say it is the fault of Election Commission. If you had learnt your lessons, Congress’ existence would not have been questioned. I ask Rahul Gandhi to learn from his shortcomings, else in the days to come, there will be no one to take Congress’ name,” said Nitin Nabin, while addressing the public at Dharmatala.
Nabin, Suvendu Adhikari, and other ministers such as Tapas Roy and Arjun Singh—as well as their supporters—walked the 2km stretch from College Square.
Nabin made a pitch for PM Narendra Modi’s return to power in the 2029 general elections.
“Rahul Gandhi, you do not have the strength to bring down the government. When your forefathers have tried to do so, people of the country taught you a lesson ... you have neither the gumption nor the wisdom required in politics," he declared.
There was also the BJP's rhetoric on the Congress crying foul over ‘vote chori’ allegations and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), questioning how the main Opposition in the Centre won Kerala.
“If there was a problem with the Election Commission, then you would not have won Kerala ... When you win, you say democracy is in your favour, else you cry foul,” added Nabin.
Adhikari’s speech took a local touch, in which he pointed out that the BJP would sweep the upcoming municipal elections in Kolkata and Howrah. There was also mention of removing 'dimagi naxals', and of those raising slogans of 'Kashmir maange azaadi' and the 'tukde tukde gang'.
The ruling party reiterated their power statement, doled out rehearsed speeches and infused a sense of holding ground amidst INDIA bloc’s Delhi hustle.
Without confining their attack to the Opposition in the national capital, the top brass of the BJP is making all efforts to spread their message amongst the public in other states ahead of the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.
