Union Minister Kiren Rijiju took a jibe at the Congress, alleging that the party had used an AI-generated image to show a packed Ramlila Maidan during the INDIA bloc's rally against alleged electoral irregularities on Sunday.
In a sarcastic post, Rijiju said the Congress was not able to properly create an AI photo.
"Even the fake AI photo to show that the Ramlila ground was full was not done properly by the fake narrative team of the Congress Party!" he said.
The opposition INDIA bloc held the 'Chalo Dilli' protest at Ramlila Maidan in the national capital on Sunday as part of its campaign against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged electoral irregularities.
The BJP slammed the opposition's rally as a "foolish drama" and accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of "rubbing salt into the wounds of Sikhs" by holding the protest in Delhi on the anniversary of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
Addressing a news conference, BJP MP Sambit Patra questioned the INDIA bloc's claim of a large turnout at the rally, claiming that a significant portion of Ramlila Maidan remained vacant.
Patra claimed that around 5,000 to 7,000 of the 28,000 chairs at the venue were unoccupied between 3.30 pm and 4 pm. He also alleged that around 40 per cent of the ground was empty.
"You can see in the background that 40 per cent of the Ramlila Maidan, 40% of the space, was vacant. Rahul Gandhi and his team claimed that 10 lakh people would attend. Out of 28,000 chairs, around 5,000–7,000 were empty at 3:30–4 PM. This is the reality behind Congress's claim of 10 lakh attendees," he said.
Patra also criticised Rahul Gandhi over his remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's election, saying the Congress leader was speaking like the "son of a Mughal emperor".
BJP chief Nitin Nabin said that the Congress, the main opposition party in the country, should have sought atonement for the 1984 anti-Sikh riots instead of organising a rally in Delhi.
"I always say that Rahul Gandhi is acting at the behest of foreign powers, like their toolkit to challenge the country's democracy. The 140 crore people of the country are watching, and they know who these people are," Nabin said.
