Jamui molestation case: Accused Nandan Yadav, another involved in liquor smuggling, illegal sand mining in Bihar
Two of the accused in the Jamui minor’s harassment case, Nandan Yadav and Hareram Yadav, were both involved in liquor smuggling and illegal sand mining business.
The accused are both residents of Pratappur in the town police station area.
Nandan was arrested after he was shot in the leg in a police encounter on Tuesday, while Hareram’s leg is fractured. He reported sustaining the injury after he tried to escape the police. A total of five men were arrested in the case of the harassment of a minor girl and boy who had gone for a drive in Madwa Pahari areas of Jamui.
Three of the accused were minors.
Superintendent of Police Vishwajeet Dayal said that the accused's criminal history is being investigated.
Sources said that they carried out an illegal liquor raid traced through the Kundar route.
The illegal sand mining trade was carried out from Pratappur Ghat.

Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav said that women and girls were not safe in the state and that the perpetrators would be given a speedy trial and be hanged.
The city’s female ward councillor organised a protest demanding the safety of the women in the region.
In May 2021, then SDM Pratibha Rani was attacked in the same area while travelling with a convoy. The suspects even fired shots. The area where the harassment of the minor occurred is reported to be known for other criminal incidents. Despite this, the area lacked monitoring.
On September 19, two minor students were attacked and molested by a group of men on their way back from a drive on a scooter after tuition.
The ordeal lasted about 20 minutes; one of the accused even picked up and tried to carry the girl away. They were eventually let go after a few passerby who initially just watched intervened and asked the group of men to let them go when the violent attack escalated.
