A video doing the rounds on social media, claiming to have been recently shot in Bihar's Jamui, showed a young couple being harassed by a mob at night. The horrific visuals, which have kicked up a storm on social media, showed a man picking up and carrying a girl away before being stopped by her friend.

The young couple were also harassed by the crowd while they sat on a motorbike, the viral videos showed. They were seen requesting the crowd to let them go with folded hands. The young man was seen trying to guard his companion from the crowd while trying not to trigger them any further. The main tormentor of the couple, who was also responsible for touching her inappropriately while picking her up, hid his face behind a cloth wrapped around his head.

"...If the video is genuine and the people involved are identified, Bihar Police must act swiftly and lawfully—those responsible for sexually harassing the couple should be arrested without delay and face the full consequences under the law," an X handle that shared the video said.

"And Bihar Police needs to answer: how are such incidents happening openly, while people are filming instead of stopping them? Silence and inaction only embolden such behaviour. This is the time for strict action, proper investigation, and accountability—not excuses," the post added.

Based on the video, the Bihar Police have begun a probe into the incident. The Jamui Superintendent of Police has reportedly confirmed that the viral video is linked to the Jamui-Lakhisarai road, Hindi media reported.
