The India Meteorological Department's (IMD) Thiruvananthapuram Met Centre on Monday released a district-wise weather forecast for Kerala. Light to moderate rainfall is likely in all 14 districts of the state until Friday, September 25, the release showed.
Earlier in the day, an orange alert was issued in six districts, with heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorms likely at isolated places on Monday, officials said. The IMD issued the orange alert at 7 AM in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, and Thrissur districts, valid for three hours. The IMD said thunderstorms accompanied by rainfall and maximum surface wind speeds of up to 40 km/h are very likely at isolated places in these districts.
Light rainfall is also likely at isolated places in Kollam, Palakkad, and Kannur districts, the weather agency said.

While the rain is expected to persist in the coming days, its intensity is set to drop starting Tuesday. As per the weekly forecast:
- The districts of Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod have the highest rainfall potential on Thursday, September 24. There is a possibility of isolated heavy rainfall (64.5 mm – 115.5 mm) in these three districts on Thursday.
- On Friday, the downpour will weaken yet again on Friday in the three districts and no place is likely to get rainfall with the potential to affect public life.
