A number of prominent political and administrative faces continue to be flagged by the Election Commission (EC) for discrepancies, amid the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Delhi.
The latest to face issues over the SIR are External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, BJP veteran and former Deputy PM L.K. Advani—as well as his daughter, Pratibha—and Election Commissioner S.S. Sandhu.
The Advanis on the list were placed under the “no mapping” category, which indicates that a proper link could not be established between their records and the previous SIR roll, during enumeration.
As a result, they will have to again establish their eligibility through documents from the 12 categories specified by the EC.
This has also been the case with Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.
In the cases of Election Commissioner S.S. Sandhu, Delhi minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, and former Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva, a “self name mismatch” was identified as the issue, which also led to a "parent name mismatch" notice for Sandhu's son, Damanbir.
This comes a day after Delhi CM Rekha Gupta found herself on the list due to "an age gap of less than 15 years between a parent and progeny", followed by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal and several of his family members.
However, the CM's name was later cleared after her voter documents were validated by Booth Level Officer (BLOs).
Arvind Kejriwal, his parents Gobind Ram Kejriwal and Gita Devi, wife Sunita Kejriwal, and son Pulkit Kejriwal were all placed in the “no mapping” category.
A number of bureaucrats have also found themselves on the growing list of voter entry discrepancies ahead of the publication of the final electoral rolls on November 4 this year.
This includes SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey, Principal Scientific Advisor to PM Ajay Kumar Sood, Health Secretary Punya Salila, and Land Resources Secretary Narendra Bhooshan—all of whom have also been flagged under the "no mapping" category, as per an Indian Express report.
Expenditure Secretary Vumlunmang Vualnam and Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) K. Sanjay Murthy have also come under the lens for name mismatches.
