As Cockroach Janta Party protesters continue to camp at Jantar Mantar, a statement by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has triggered speculations about Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke‘s potential foray into politics.
Dubey, who launched a scathing attack on Dipke, took to X to put up a post: “Will Abhijeet Dipke, who climbed the political ladder with the help of the Aam Aadmi Party, contest the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections representing the Bhim Army?”
Interestingly, despite Dubey’s claim, Dipke has ruled out any plans to enter electoral politics. In an earlier interview, when asked whether the CJP could field candidates in future elections, he said: “Why should we contest elections? If everyone in this country has to contest elections for their fundamental rights and fair demands, how will the system actually work?" Dipke said.
He said that pushing citizens into the election fray just for rights is not an excuse.
However, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has openly supported Dipke, with Arvind Kejriwal calling the movement a “good party".
On Tuesday, Kejriwal also hit out at the Central government, saying that its crackdown on the CJP was worse than the brutality of the Britishers. He added that the party has launched a helpline number -- 8588833548 -- to provide medical aid to injured protesters and legal assistance to family members of students who were detained.
Meanwhile, Dipke apologised to those injured in the crackdown. "I apologise to all our supporters, especially the girls who were brutally beaten up by male police officers. We could have done better. I could have done better to protect you from the inhumane actions of the Delhi Police," he wrote on X.
