About 9 people suspected of being terrorists have been arrested by the special cell NDR on Saturday. They were said to be working at the behest of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence and the Mumbai underworld network.

According to the Delhi Police Special Cell, they were tasked with attacking “vital installations and security personnel in Delhi”. They reportedly had a connection with fugitive Dawood Ibrahim.

They also recovered arms and explosives from their possession.

The arrests come days after the Delhi police announced a major overhaul of its counter-terrorism framework in the wake of security concerns following Operation Sindoor.

The accused are reportedly residents of Delhi, Mumbai and Punjab, while some are foreign nationals.

Sources who spoke to NDTV also said that the nuclear facilities, airports and railway stations and power plants were on the list.

Officials said that the module was under surveillance for some time.

They are now probing cross-border linkages, funding channels and the role of overseas handlers who are directing module activities, the sources told NDTV.

The arrests come amid a heightened security in Delhi following multiple terror threats and alerts regarding possible suicide attacks, vehicle-borne improvised device, shootings and coordinated strikes.
