BJP leader Suvendhu Adhikari has been appointed as the next Chief Minister of West Bengal.

The decision was announced after the BJP held its Legislature Party meeting in Kolkata on Friday.

Adhikari's name was proposed by BJP state president Samik Bhattacharya and was accepted by all the party MLAs

Home Minister Amit Shah and Co-observer Mohan Charan Majhi were also present at the meeting.

Adhikari defeated Mamata Banerjee in her stronghold Bawanipur during the recent Assembly elections by 15,000 voters.

The new Chief Minister will be sworn in and take the oath on Saturday
