The horrific killing of a young man in Secunderabad’s Chilakalguda led to his kith and kin holding a protest in front of his lover's residence. Accusing the family of the victim's girlfriend of the murder, the protesters gathered outside the Sitaphalmandi residence, reportedly demanding justice.

23-year-old Yavan was hacked to death by a six-strong gang who barged into a Chilakalaguda accommodation where he was enjoying a game of cricket. When Yavan, a third-year BTech student, managed to survive the first ambush and broke free, the gang chased him onto the street and attacked him further until he collapsed. Eyewitnesses told a daily newspaper that they saw the bike-borne criminals entering the house heavily armed and later leaving as the youngster lay motionless in a pool of blood.

His head and neck were the regions that suffered serious injuries in the attack, The Times of India (TOI) said in a report, and by the time he was taken to Gandhi Hospital, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

According to news reports, the hit on Yavan was ordered by the family of a woman with whom he was in a relationship. The youngsters had been together for over four years and the girl's family had reportedly warned him to back out. The murder was orchestrated by the family as Yavan paid no heed to their threats, his family alleged.

After Yavan's relatives decided to hold a protest outside the girl's house, heavy police deployment was ensured at the scene to ensure no untoward incident took place. The Chilakalguda police have registered a case and a probe is underway.
