As actor-turned-politician Vijay mulls joining hands with other parties, including the Congress and Left parties, to form TVK’s debut government, all eyes are on Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), which won four seats, and its leader, Anbumani Ramadoss.

Though the PMK is yet to clear its stance - the party contested elections with the AIADMK - reports are that the PMK is in talks with TVK. However, Ramadoss is said to have asked for the deputy chief minister's post for his wife and Dharmapuri MLA Soumya Anbumani to join the TVK, according to unconfirmed reports. Soumya achieved victory by securing 20,896 more votes to become Dharmapuri's first female MLA.

Moreover, the PMK has also demanded a seat from where Vijay is set to resign.

Vijay, who is holding talks with the Congress, VKC, Communist Parties, and IUML, is yet to accept the demand. Vijay has 15 days to form the government.

However, there are other rumours that the BJP leadership has offered Anbumani Ramadoss another alternative. They are offering him a position in the Union Cabinet in lieu of remaining with the AIADMK and not supporting Vijay.

Anbumani is more likely to consider Delhi power safer now than state politics, according to speculations.

Meanwhile, DMDK general secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth has shut down rumours that the party could support Vijay. On whether she would support TVK, Premalatha said: “We are a Secular Progressive Alliance. We are firm on that,” she said categorically.

She, however, congratulated Vijay on his victory. “Vijay is our home child.  Congratulations to him. Vijay is not new to us. He has just entered politics. May he do good for the people,” he said.

She said a consultative meeting of the SPA will be held at Anna Arivalayam, where she will meet “brother Stalin.”
